About the Symposium
The 2026 O. Fritiof Ander Symposium brings together scholars, policymakers, and journalists for a comparative conversation about elections in Sweden and the United States. Through a keynote address and panel discussion, speakers will explore what recent and upcoming elections reveal about democracy, public policy, and political change in the two countries.
The program features Joakim Palme of Uppsala University as keynote speaker, joined by panelists Dave Loebsack, Benjamin R. Teitelbaum, and Karin Henriksson. Wendy Hilton-Morrow will moderate the discussion, with concluding remarks by Dag Blanck.
The symposium will take place Friday, October 23, from 2:00–4:30 p.m. at the Wilson Center at Augustana College, followed by a public reception from 4:30–5:30 p.m.
The symposium and reception are free and open to the public. Registration is requested.
