The Swenson Center is happy to introduce to our community our fundraising advisor, Kurt Peterson. Kurt has worked in higher education advancement for more than ten years. He currently serves as Chief Development Officer at The College of Lake County, and used to work in major and principal gifts at Loyola University Chicago.
Prior to his work in college advancement, he was professor and chair of the history department at North Park University. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame where he wrote his dissertation on Swedish America and the Covenant Church in the twentieth century. While writing his dissertation, he conducted research at the Swenson Center, and looks forward to advancing our mission so that future generations of students, scholars, and patrons can benefit from our collection and programs.
Kurt will be more than simply a consultant. He will be working with us to build relationships, expand our communications strategy, and raise funds in order to advance the mission of the Center.
In the years ahead we will be addressing several capital needs such as expanding our collection space, replacing our HVAC system in order to properly preserve our collection, renovating our offices, and modernizing our genealogical research facilities. Kurt will be reaching out to many of you to learn about your experiences with the Center as he learns about the community that supports and benefits from our work.
Welcome, Kurt!
